What I Offer

With nearly 30 years of experience spanning pastoral ministry, clinical counseling, spiritual direction, teaching, clergy and church planter assessments, retreat speaking, entrepreneurial leadership, ministry coaching and supervision, and more, consider Chuck for care, consultation, assessment, training, retreat speaking, and more.

  • Counseling & Soul Care

There is profound transformation available when someone bears witness to your life with compassion and curiosity. Being known in this way opens the door to clarity, courage, and deeper wholeness.

I offer clinical counseling in person at my Holland, MI office and I offer soul care via Zoom. For my 5-Day Intensives, see my dedicated webpage.

My availability is limited, and most who inquire spend some time on a wait list.

Note: I am generally not available for weekly care, so if you’re in crisis or need weekly care, please seek that out. I cannot offer referrals via email.

I operate with a simple fee-for-service model; insurance billing is not available, though for some in-person clients I provide superbills for insurance reimbursement.

  • Clergy Psychological Assessments

Clergy psychological assessments are vital because they provide a clear, compassionate understanding of a leader’s strengths, vulnerabilities, and formation needs, ensuring healthier ministry, safer communities, and long-term vocational sustainability.

This standard assessment process includes (1) a personal narrative, (2) a combination of personality tests, (3) a comprehensive test of clinical psychopathology, and (4) an interview.

The testing covers general emotional health, vocational fit, and characterological tendencies looking at potential elevations on personality spectrums (like narcissism). Upon completion, Chuck generates a 3-5 page report with clear recommendations. All of this is done virtually.

My assessment fee is $1000, which is often paid by the network, denomination, or church, although some clergy do reach out for independent assessments. The one being assessed is also responsible to pay to take two personality tests online at a total of $80 and send the results to Chuck, but the larger comprehensive testing is included.

  • Ministry Supervision

Ministry Supervision provides a confidential space for clergy, ministry staff, and nonprofit leaders to explore the complex challenges they face in their work.

Through thoughtful reflection, assessment, and guided discernment, I help you identify patterns, clarify what’s beneath the surface, and navigate difficult relational or organizational dynamics. This process supports both personal wellbeing and healthier leadership presence.

Together, we work toward greater clarity, integrity, and groundedness in your vocation. This is billed hourly.

  • Consultation

Consultation offers tailored support for individuals, teams, organizations, and churches seeking clarity, guidance, or expertise in navigating complex situations.

Whether addressing leadership challenges, organizational dynamics, conflict, staff wellbeing, spiritual abuse dynamics, or program development, I provide insight grounded in clinical, pastoral, and systems perspectives as we look “beneath the waterline” at deeper dynamics. These sessions focus on understanding underlying patterns, identifying practical next steps, and strengthening long-term health. Consultation can be offered as a one-time meeting or as an ongoing collaborative partnership, depending on your needs. This is billed hourly.

  • Trainings

Trainings provide in-depth, interactive learning experiences for teams, churches, nonprofits, and organizations seeking to grow in emotional, relational, and spiritual health. Drawing on my work in narcissism and spiritual abuse, trauma-informed care, character formation, and systems theory, I offer customized in-person or virtual trainings that meet the needs of your specific context. Each session blends accessible teaching, practical tools, and reflective engagement to help teams deepen insight and strengthen their culture. Trainings can be designed as one-time workshops, multi-session series, or retreats tailored to your goals. Billed hourly or daily.

  • Small Group Intensives

Small Group Intensives offer a focused, 3–5 day experience of deep self-exploration in a supportive community. These may feature senior pastors or leaders, a staff team, or some other group. Designed for those seeking growth in emotional intelligence, character formation, and overall wellbeing, these intensives blend teaching, guided reflection, experiential exercises, and facilitated group dialogue. Participants explore patterns in their story, gain insight into relational dynamics, and engage practices that foster grounded, courageous, and authentic presence. Each intensive creates a confidential space for meaningful transformation, connection, and renewed clarity in both life and vocation.

  • Retreats

Retreats create spacious, transformative environments for individuals, couples, and communities to step away from daily demands and engage their inner life with greater intention. I lead a wide range of retreats—from silent and contemplative retreats to content-focused gatherings shaped around the themes of my books. Participants may explore the journey of Exodus, the path toward wholeheartedness, the three questions God asks in Genesis 3, the dynamics of spiritual transformation or character formation, the stages of the spiritual journey, or other themes of spiritual and emotional formation, including marriage retreats. Each blends teaching, guided practices, and reflective space to nurture clarity, connection, and deeper presence. These retreats can be hosted in churches, retreat centers, or other contemplative spaces and tailored to your community’s needs.

  • Podcasts/Interviews

Podcasts & Interviews offer an accessible way for communities, organizations, and audiences to engage my work on emotional and spiritual health, character formation, trauma, narcissism, and spiritual abuse. I join hosts for thoughtful, grounded conversations that bring depth, clarity, and practical wisdom to complex topics. Whether for a podcast, livestream, video series, or media interview, I aim to create dialogue that is honest, hopeful, and rooted in both clinical insight and spiritual imagination. These conversations can be tailored to the themes most relevant to your audience.
